COMMANDER            Neil Fountaine

1st Vice                        Kevin Butwill

2nd Vice                       Bob Hauger

F.O.                              Bob Nipper

J.A.                               George Taylor

P.M.                             Joe Richard

3rd Year Trustee        Bill Lawyer

2nd Year Trustee        Bodie Campbell

The 1st Vice Commander was appointed as there was no one running for this position. 2nd year Trustee was appointed as this position became vacant. The installation of all post officers including Auxiliary & Sons will be held on June 12, 2016 @ 3pm. All officers did assume their duties when elected. Bruce McCaughey will be or Chaplin for 2016-2017

With all new duties for some officers, they will need your help. Let’s support them in their endeavors in making the AMVETS POST 81 a place to spend time visiting.

During my term as Commander, we will be having a dinner once a month, on the 3rd Saturday of each month, starting in July 2016. Each meal will be around $8.00 and a different meal each month. We will be having entertainment that night with a band. Watch for them on the calendar.

Spaghetti dinners are doing fabulous on Monday nights. Wednesday night hamburgers and “SHOW ME THE VET” have a great turn out. Friday night dinners still going super strong with the meat loaf being my special meal. We are still having  entertainment at 6pm Friday. Make a point to stop by a say “HI”.

Bingo has held its own in and out of season. Tell your family and bring a friend to Bingo @ 2pm Saturday.

Sunday breakfast is a leading meal on Sunday. Cindy Lou has been helping with some Sunday breakfast and other meal cooking too. Great volunteer. Thank you Cindy Lou.

Last January 2016’s Pig Roast was a “FANTASTIC FUNCTION”. Over 125 people showed up, won door prizes and bought 50/50 tickets. The cost of the pig roast was $8.00. We can keep the cost the same for the next one if we have a few extra volunteers bring a dish of Macaroni, Potato, coleslaw, baked beans and dessert. Looking forward to doing it again.

A Clam Bake is intended in November 2016 and a Christmas Party for December 16, 2016. The past 2 years we have had a “YANKEE SWAP” with presents valued at $20. This next Christmas Party will be just as fun as the last ones.

Now a more serious note: A Life Member, Matt Watkins, passed away recently. He made many donations to the post in times of need. He was a Wounded Warrior. The donation I like the best is the double door refrigerator in the kitchen. When I open it from now I will remember him. He will be missed for his quick wit and as a faithful friend and Veteran.

The Canteen rules are posted for a reason. Some of us forget that they are there to guide us in our conduct while under the AMVETS POST 81 roof. Courtesy, compassion and respect for other is a must.

Veterans, members or their guest should always be treated with consideration. Vulgar language, loud obnoxious voices and aggressive behavior will NOT be tolerated.

Members visit the post to unwind and a have a good time, let’s keep it that way with treating our fellow members with kindness and a smile. We should hold ourselves at a higher level of standards.

I want to thank ALL the VOLUNTEERS for their help, The Auxiliary, the Sons, the Honor Guard, Diane and the bartenders for their support throughout the year is greatly appreciated.
